Pumpkin pile!

Big pile of chopped up pumpkins, with leaves mixed in.

I asked for pumpkins to recycle for Beautification Day at the school. I didn’t really have a plan for them, but a couple of kids started chopping them up with shovels and pretty soon they looked like this!

I got some help wrapping it all up in a tarp and loaded in the car. It took a while to wheelbarrow it up the hill but now I have this nice pile of composting pumpkin. I’m looking forward to all of the volunteer pumpkin vines next summer!

Back to the blog

Due to laziness and inertia, I had moved my photo posting to Instagram and Facebook. It’s so easy! Everyone’s there! Well, it turns out Facebook is bad for so many reasons. Rather than keep sharing things there and supporting (in my very small way) the badness, I’ve come back to the blog.

Since the times are what they are we haven’t been far from home since our trip to Portugal, so I’ve been going through my old photos and posting whatever catches my eye. Plus any cool bugs and mushrooms we find in the neighborhood!

Birthdaze 0.5.3

This version just adds a little feature that Matt asked for on Twitter: the widget and shortcode can now just show today’s birthdays. If you’re using the shortcode, set the time option to day.

Tree drain

Tree drain

Oliver and I hang out under a huge old oak tree in Rock Creek Park to watch the Metro trains and eat daffodils. Last time we were there we noticed this dripping pipe hanging out of the tree around 15 feet up. It’s near a dead part of the tree – I guess that’s got something to do with it?
